Landscaping marketing means getting your company to show up on Google Maps when someone nearby searches for a gardener or landscaper, and turning every garden you deliver into a review and a referral. With cheap clicks and a good share of revenue coming from monthly maintenance, Google Business Profile and referrals tend to pay off more than ads. Google Ads comes in for landscaping projects, which have a higher ticket and justify paying for the click.

The numbers in this guide were measured by Ciclicko in October 2026. The sample for each one is stated in the text.

What a gardening and landscaping click is worth

The gardening and landscaping sector had an average bid of R$3.72 in our CPC survey by sector, with a range of R$1.54 to R$5.90. That’s the bid Google estimated for the top of the page in October 2026, not what each business pays.

Searches in this niche, in the Google Ads Keyword Planner in October 2026:

SearchSearches per monthTop-of-page bid (min. to max.)
grama sintética49.500R$0.66 to R$5.47
paisagismo18.100R$1.72 to R$7.99
paisagista18.100R$1.72 to R$7.99
jardinagem18.100R$1.27 to R$5.48
jardim vertical18.100R$0.99 to R$6.42
poda de árvores12.100R$2.05 to R$7.75
jardineiro9.900R$1.84 to R$7.62
irrigação automática1.600R$0.24 to R$2.66
projeto de paisagismo720R$1.56 to R$5.84
lawn mowing590R$1.68 to R$6.92
garden maintenance320R$1.83 to R$7.59

Two things come out of this. First, no search in the niche went above R$8 in max bid. Second, “garden maintenance” (jardim maintenance), the recurring service that keeps cash flowing, has only 320 searches a month. People who need a gardener every month tend to ask for a referral or search just “gardener”, and rarely type the name of the service.

“Artificial turf” and “vertical garden” have high volume, but part of the people searching want to buy the product, not hire the service. If you advertise on them, put them in a separate campaign and use negative keywords.

What Google Maps shows for landscaping

In October 2026, we looked at the 58 profiles Google Maps shows first in São Paulo, Rio and Belo Horizonte for the search “landscaping”. We read the website of 45 of them and measured mobile speed on 8.

What we looked atResult
Profiles analyzed on Google Maps58
Average Google rating4,82
Median reviews per profile36,5
Profiles with 100 reviews or more26%
Profiles with fewer than 20 reviews38%
Profiles with 10 or more photos83%
Profiles without a website14%
Profiles with a social network instead of a website7%
Sites without Tag Manager and without GA4 (45 reviewed)64%
Sites with a Google Ads tag (45 reviewed)4%
Sites with a WhatsApp link (45 reviewed)69%
Sites with structured data (45 reviewed)49%
Median mobile LCP (8 sites measured)5.55 s
Median mobile PageSpeed score (8 sites)71

The top of Maps is split. A quarter of the profiles have more than 100 reviews, and 38% have fewer than 20. That means you can reach the top with few reviews, as long as the rest of the profile is in order.

And almost nobody tracks their ads. Only 4% of the 45 sites had the Google Ads tag. With cheap clicks and few top Maps competitors set up to measure, ads for projects have room, as long as the site records the lead.

Landscaping marketing on Google Maps, step by step

Your Google Business Profile is the channel with the best return for landscaping marketing. Google’s help page on local ranking says profiles with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local searches.

  1. Set your service area, since the work is done at the customer’s home. If you don’t receive customers at your address, remove the address. The guide is in Google Business Profile without an address.
  2. List everything you do as services, such as monthly maintenance, pruning, lawn mowing, design projects and irrigation.
  3. Upload before and after photos of gardens. 83% of the profiles already had 10 or more photos, which is the maximum the Google query returns. What sets one profile apart from another is whether the photo shows your best work.
  4. Ask every maintenance client for a review after the first month, when they have already seen the garden change.
  5. Keep your hours and phone number the same as on your website and WhatsApp.

On photos, what to upload and how to name them is covered in Google Business Profile photos.

Referrals are the maintenance channel

A monthly maintenance contract comes from trust, and trust comes from neighbors, building managers and happy clients. In gardening marketing, referrals should be treated as a channel, with a process and not left to luck.

What works in practice:

  • A card or ready-made message the client can forward to a neighbor.
  • Ask for a referral together with the review request.
  • Pay attention to condominiums, where a contract with the building manager opens the door to the individual homes.
  • Partnerships with architects and builders who deliver projects with green areas. Both sides are covered in marketing for architects.

Reviews reinforce referrals. Someone who gets your name from a neighbor opens Google to check. How to ask without being awkward is in how to get Google reviews.

When ads are worth it

In landscaping marketing, Google Ads is worth it for design projects, which have a high ticket and clients who research before deciding. For maintenance, the cheap click is misleading. It costs little, but search volume is small and maintenance clients usually come through referrals.

A lean campaign for projects:

  • Keywords like “landscape design” and “landscaper” with the city or neighborhood.
  • Ad leading to a project page, with photos of finished gardens.
  • Negative keywords for “course”, “college”, “salary” and “what is”, and for products, like “artificial turf price” if you don’t sell it.
  • Contact tracked through WhatsApp, which appeared on 69% of the sites.

To get an idea of the minimum budget, the guide on how much to invest in Google Ads shows how to do the math.

Landscaping website: light gallery and contact in plain sight

In landscaping marketing, the website is a gallery. On the 8 sites we measured, the median was 5.55 seconds to show the main part of the page on mobile, and all of them took more than 2.5 seconds. The median PageSpeed score was 71, better than architecture (55.5) and cleaning (62) in the same study, but the page is still slow.

Compressing the garden photos and loading the gallery gradually solves a good part of it. Add a fixed WhatsApp button and write the service area at the top.

Almost two thirds measure nothing. 64% of the 45 sites had neither Tag Manager nor GA4. Without them, the company doesn’t know if the client came from Maps, Instagram or a neighbor who shared the link.

Instagram and content for gardening

How do you promote a gardening service on Instagram? By showing the transformation. A before and after of the same flower bed, a garden’s progress over three months and the right plant for strong sun perform better than holiday posts.

Instagram confirms the choice of people who have already heard of you. It is rarely where the contact starts. For topic ideas, see Instagram content ideas for businesses.
