PPC for dentists, or Google Ads management for dentists, means advertising on Google to people already looking for a dentist or a treatment in their area, paying only when someone clicks. It works best on the Google Ads Search Network, with one campaign per treatment and ads that follow Brazil’s Dental Code of Ethics, which prohibits price, free offers and payment terms. In October 2026, the top bid for “dentista” ranged from R$2.88 to R$11.43, according to Keyword Planner.

What is and isn’t allowed in promoting a practice in general, Instagram included, is covered in our guide on what the CFO (Brazil’s Federal Dental Council) allows dentists to do. Here the topic is the campaign.

What Google Ads management for dentists is and where it works

It’s paid media, usually on Google, that puts the clinic at the top when someone searches “dentista perto de mim” (dentist near me), “aparelho ortodôntico” (braces) or “clareamento dental” (teeth whitening). The difference from Instagram is intent. On Google, the person seeing the ad asked for that right now.

That’s why Google Ads for dentists usually starts with the Search Network. Display and video come later, to remind people who already visited the site.

The agency market itself shows how competitive this is. Searches for this service run at about 110 a month, with bids of R$22 to R$28 in Keyword Planner, as of October 2026. In other words, the click from someone looking for a dentist marketing agency costs more than the click from the patient.

How much a click costs by treatment

A click costs what the clinics in your area are willing to pay. The table uses numbers from our CPC by industry study, covering 103 industries. It is the bid Google estimates for the top of the page in October 2026, not what each business pays.

SearchSearches per monthTop-of-page bid
dentist246.000R$2.88 to R$11.43
teeth whitening90.500R$1.12 to R$4.80
braces40.500R$2.33 to R$8.09
clear aligners9.900R$2.19 to R$8.89

Across the whole industry, the midpoint bid was R$6.03 for dentist, with a range of R$2.41 to R$9.65, and R$5.27 for orthodontics, in a range of R$2.30 to R$8.25. Compared with criminal law or real estate, that is a cheap click. The problem in dentistry is not the price of the click, it is where the click goes.

Whitening has volume, but mixed intent

“Teeth whitening” gets 90,500 searches a month and bids of up to R$4.80. Many people searching for it want a home remedy, the price of a drugstore kit, or to know if it is harmful. Without negative keywords, your budget goes to people who will not book an appointment.

Some negative keywords that go into a clinic account from day one are “homemade”, “recipe”, “drugstore”, “kit”, “college”, “course”, “job”, “salary”, “SUS” (Brazil’s public health system) and “free”. The step-by-step for building the list is in negative keywords in Google Ads.

What the top clinics on Google Maps have

In October 2026, we reviewed the 60 profiles that Google Maps shows first in São Paulo, Rio and Belo Horizonte for “dental clinic”. We read the website of 54 of them and measured mobile speed on a sample of 8.

What we measuredResult
Average Google rating4,82
Median reviews424
Profiles with 100 reviews or more85%
Profiles with at least 10 photos93%
Sites with Google Tag Manager59%
Sites with GA4 installed26%
Sites with no Tag Manager and no GA428%
Sites with the Google Ads tag22%
Sites with WhatsApp link81%
Sites with structured data (schema)61%
Largest element load time on mobile (median of the 8 sites)5.4 s
Sample sites above 2.5 s100%

Competition on Maps is heavy. Half of the profiles had 424 reviews or more. A new clinic with 30 reviews, advertising next to them, will get the click and lose the comparison.

The data point that matters most for anyone about to advertise is a different one. Of the 54 websites, 81% had a WhatsApp link and only 22% had the Google Ads tag in the code. The patient reaches out on WhatsApp, and Google, without the tag and without the conversion set up, never finds out. Without that feedback, automated bidding does not learn who books an appointment.

Speed settles the math. On the 8 websites we measured, none loaded in under 2.5 seconds on mobile, and the median was 5.4 seconds. You pay for the click and some of the people leave before they see the page.

How to build the clinic campaign, step by step

A practice account works with a few pieces done well. This is the order we use.

  1. Tracking before ads. Set up WhatsApp clicks, phone calls and the form as conversions. The Google Ads for WhatsApp guide shows how.
  2. One campaign per treatment that earns a margin. Orthodontics, implants and general dentistry have different patients, ticket sizes and competition, and should not share budget.
  3. Short radius. Start with a few kilometers around the clinic and adjust later based on data on where your bookings come from.
  4. Intent keywords. “dentist in Moema”, “braces price” and “clear aligner appointment” say more than “beautiful teeth”.
  5. Location extension linked to the Google Business Profile. The ad then shows the clinic’s address.
  6. One page per treatment. The orthodontics ad goes to the orthodontics page, with the dentist’s name and CRO number visible.

Before investing, fix up your Maps profile. The article on Google Business Profile for clinics and medical practices covers category, reviews and the rules specific to healthcare.

Dental clinic ads within CFO rules

In Brazil, an ad can state the treatment, location, insurance plans accepted and how to book, as long as it carries a name and registration number. It cannot mention prices, free services or payment methods.

We opened the Dental Code of Ethics today, in the version published on the CFO (Brazil’s Federal Dental Council) website. Article 43 requires the name and registration number of the individual or company in all advertising and, for a clinic, also the name and number of the responsible dentist. The same article allows mentioning registered specialties, address, phone number, hours, insurance plans and home care.

Article 44 lists what counts as an infraction. These are the points that most often trip up an ad.

  • Advertising with prices, free services or payment methods (item I).
  • Advertising a specialty the professional does not have registered (item II).
  • Criticizing another professional’s technique (item IV).
  • The word “popular” (item VII).
  • Offering a service through a discount card, group-buying site or other promotional site (item XIV).

On images, CFO Resolution 196/2019 allows publishing images of the diagnosis and of the finished treatment, taken by the dentist who performed the procedure, with the patient’s consent form. Showing video or images of the procedure in progress is still prohibited, and every image must carry a name and registration number.

An example of copy that follows these rules:

  • Headline: Orthodontics in Moema
  • Headline: Fixed Braces and Aligners
  • Description: Appointment-based evaluation. Dr. First Last, CRO-SP 00000. We accept insurance plans.

And one that does not: “Free whitening at the first appointment, pay in 12 installments”. A free service and a payment method in the same line.

The rules may have been updated by a later resolution. Before publishing any ad, confirm with your CRO (regional dental council).

How much to invest to start

The starting budget is the one that buys enough clicks to see whether the page converts. With the “dentist” bid between R$2.88 and R$11.43, a budget of R$1,000 a month would buy between 87 and 347 clicks if the click cost that bid. In practice, the real amount depends on the region and the competition.

Start with one treatment, measure for four weeks, and only then open the second. The full calculation is in how much to invest in Google Ads.

Frequently asked questions

How do you run Google Ads for dentists? Set up WhatsApp and phone call conversions, create a search campaign per treatment with a short radius around the clinic, use negative keywords from day one, and send each ad to the treatment page.

How much does Google Ads cost for dentists? The click depends on the search and the region. In October 2026, the top-of-page bid for “dentist” ran from R$2.88 to R$11.43 and for “braces”, from R$2.33 to R$8.09. You set the monthly budget.

Do Google Ads work for dentists? They work when the clinic tracks the contacts that arrive through WhatsApp and phone calls. Without that tracking, Google optimizes for the click and not for the booked appointment.

Can a dentist put a price in a Google ad? No. Article 44 of the Dental Code of Ethics treats advertising with prices, free services or payment methods as an infraction.

Can a dental clinic ad show before and after photos? CFO Resolution 196/2019 allows images of the diagnosis and of the finished treatment, with the patient’s consent form, name and registration number. Video of the procedure in progress is still prohibited.
