Marketing for custom furniture means getting your store or woodworking shop to show up for people deciding on a kitchen, bedroom or closet project, and being the one they pick when requesting a quote. On Google this happens in three places, the map, the ad and the website, and the customer usually goes through all three before messaging on WhatsApp. Among the 60 profiles Google Maps shows first in São Paulo, Rio and Belo Horizonte, the average rating is 4.84 and the median is 89 reviews. Anyone who wants to get on that list is competing with strong profiles, and the difference today is in the website and in measurement.

What the October 2026 numbers show

In October 2026 we collected the 60 profiles Google Maps shows first in São Paulo, Rio and Belo Horizonte for the search “móveis planejados” (custom furniture). We opened the sites we could read, 39 in total, and checked the measurement tags, the WhatsApp link and the structured data. On a sample of 8 of those sites we measured mobile speed with PageSpeed.

Three takeaways come out of this table, and they define marketing for custom furniture in 2026. The Google profile is already well kept in most cases. The website is slow. And few people measure what the ad brings in.

How much a custom furniture click costs on Google

The search “móveis planejados” had 74,000 searches per month, with a top-of-page bid between R$1.79 and R$10.19. This is Google’s estimated top-of-page bid in October 2026, not what each company pays. The full method is in our CPC survey by industry, which covers 103 industries.

The woodworking sector, combined, had 222,100 searches per month and a top bid in the middle of the range at R$5.16. Looking term by term, what stands out is the difference between similar searches.

  • “marcenaria” (woodworking shop), 90,500 searches, from R$2.46 to R$12.11
  • “marceneiro” (woodworker), 49,500 searches, from R$1.91 to R$7.54
  • “cozinha planejada” (custom kitchen), 74,000 searches, from R$1.12 to R$4.96
  • “armário planejado” (custom cabinet), 8,100 searches, from R$1.12 to R$5.77

“Cozinha planejada” has the same volume as “móveis planejados” and a top of range less than half as high. If you split the campaign by room, you buy the same intent for less, and the ad speaks exactly to what the person typed.

Watch out for generic keywords. The retail furniture sector had a bid in the middle of the R$1.42 range, and “guarda roupa” alone added up to 550,000 searches, from R$0.29 to R$1.75. A good share of those people want a ready-made wardrobe delivered within the week. If your campaign accepts that search, you pay to talk to people who will never request a custom project. The negative keyword list is what cuts that spend.

Google Maps: your competitors already have the basics covered

On Maps, the bar is high. Only 3% of the 60 profiles had fewer than 20 reviews, 40% had more than 100, and 98% reached 10 photos, which is the maximum our query reads. None were missing business hours.

In practice, this means a complete profile is no longer a differentiator in this niche. It’s the minimum to show up. What still sets one profile apart from another is the volume of recent reviews and the quality of photos of delivered projects, with a real setting, good lighting and the client’s permission.

If you’re just starting out, there are three fronts. The right category and the listed services are covered in the guide to optimizing Google Business Profile. Asking for a review after each installation, without offering a discount in return, is in how to get Google reviews. And the profile name must be the store’s real name, without “custom furniture south zone” tacked on at the end, because the Google Business Profile guidelines prohibit keywords in the name and the profile can be suspended.

Custom furniture website: the portfolio weighs on mobile

The website is where this niche loses the most clients today. We measured 8 sites. The median mobile LCP was 8.85 seconds, and all 8 were above 2.5 seconds, the limit Google calls good in the LCP documentation. The median PageSpeed score was 48.5.

Eight sites is a small sample, and we don’t generalize to the whole market. But the cause is usually the same at custom furniture stores. The page opens with a gallery of huge photos, shot by the photographer in high resolution and uploaded as they came.

What fixes it, in order:

  1. The first image on the page, the one visible without scrolling, in WebP and under 200 KB.
  2. The other gallery photos loading only when the person scrolls to them.
  3. One page per room (kitchen, bedroom, closet, home office), each with 6 to 10 projects, instead of a single gallery with 200 photos.
  4. A fixed WhatsApp button, with a pre-filled message saying which page the person came from.

The 27% of profiles with no website and the 15% that point to Instagram instead of a website also lose ground. A Google ad needs a landing page, and an Instagram profile doesn’t fill that role. If the site already exists and is slow, website optimization starts with that diagnosis.

Marketing for woodworking shops: measuring the quotes that come in through WhatsApp

Of the 39 sites we read, 69% had a WhatsApp link and only 31% had the Google Ads tag. Nearly three in ten (28%) had neither Tag Manager nor GA4. In other words, most stores receive quote requests through a channel nobody is counting.

Without that count, Google Ads optimizes in the dark. It doesn’t know which search turned into a conversation and starts chasing cheap clicks, which in our niche is exactly the “guarda roupa” from someone who wants ready-made furniture.

The fix is simple to explain. Each click on the WhatsApp button becomes an event in Tag Manager, and that event becomes a conversion in Google Ads. The step-by-step is in Google Ads for WhatsApp.

Custom furniture has one more particularity. The sale closes weeks after the first contact, after the site visit and the 3D project. If you note in your CRM where each quote came from, you can send the closed sale back to Google through offline conversions, and then the campaign learns to bring in people like those who bought, not those who only asked for a price.

Marketing for custom furniture on Google Ads without paying for people who want ready-made furniture

Digital marketing for woodworking shops on Google Ads works when the campaign is narrow. A playbook we use:

  1. One search campaign per room, with the keywords for that room (“custom kitchen”, “custom closet”, “custom bedroom”).
  2. A real service radius. If installation only reaches 40 km from the factory, the ad doesn’t show at 100 km.
  3. Negative keywords from day one, such as “ready-made”, “used”, “cheap”, “department store”, “kit” and the names of big retailers.
  4. Each ad leads to the room’s page, never to the home page.
  5. WhatsApp and form conversions set up before turning on the campaign.

The survey numbers help you plan the budget, but the real cost in your account depends on the city, the time of day and the quality of the ad. To understand how the auction sets the price, read how Google Ads works.

Instagram: where the client saves inspiration

The custom furniture client saves kitchen photos for months before requesting a quote. Instagram is where they check whether the store delivers the finish it promises. It’s not usually where they look for someone to hire.

That’s why a good post in this niche is a delivered project with before and after, a close-up of the hardware, a drawer that opens fully, the installation in a short video. These Instagram content ideas for businesses work as a starting point.

Many custom furniture quotes also come through referrals from architects and interior designers. If that partnership matters in your case, it’s worth understanding how an architecture firm gets found, which is the topic of marketing for architects.

Frequently asked questions

How do you market custom furniture? Start with your Google Business Profile, with photos of real projects and reviews, have a fast website with one page per room, and measure every WhatsApp click. With that in place, Google Ads by room brings in people searching right now.

How do you market a small woodworking shop? On a tight budget, Google Maps comes first, because it’s free and local search is where woodworking clients start. A review after each delivery and a photo of each project are worth more than a daily post.

Is it worth advertising custom furniture on Google Ads? It is when the campaign is split by room, has negative keywords and measures WhatsApp. Without measurement, Google tends to spend on people who want ready-made furniture.

How much does a click for custom furniture cost on Google? In October 2026, the bid Google estimated for the top of the page on “móveis planejados” ranged from R$1.79 to R$10.19. What each business pays varies with local competition and ad quality.

What is digital marketing for woodworking shops? It’s the combination of Google Maps, Google ads, a website and Instagram working so that people searching for a woodworker find your shop and request a quote.
