B2B social media is the content a company that sells to other companies publishes to be remembered during a buying decision that can take months. The main channel is usually LinkedIn, with the company page and the profiles of the owner, the sales team and the technical staff. Content that works answers the questions buyers ask, and what you measure is whether it helps start conversations and move proposals forward, not the number of likes.
If your question is still how to create the page and what to post on it, start with the guide to LinkedIn for companies. This article is for those who already have the page and are deciding whether to hire someone to handle the content.
What changes when the sale is B2B
In consumer sales, a post can generate a purchase the same day. In B2B it almost never happens. The buyer is a group, with engineering, finance, purchasing and management, and each one has a different question. The cycle goes through budget, site visit, testing and approval.
This changes three things in B2B social media.
The first is the audience. The post doesn’t need to reach many people, it needs to reach the right people at the right companies. A thousand views from buyers in your industry are worth more than a hundred thousand from the curious.
The second is the content. The person who will defend your proposal in an internal meeting needs arguments. Technical cases, solution comparisons and explanations of regulations help more than motivational posts.
The third is the metric, which comes at the end of this article.
How much people search for this service
In Google’s Keyword Planner, in October 2026, in Brazil, “social media b2b” had 30 searches per month, with a top-of-page bid of up to R$26.92. “Social media linkedin” had 50, at R$6.91, “gestão de linkedin” had 10, at R$20.63, and “linkedin para b2b” had 10, at R$10.40.
These are small volumes with high bids, the typical pattern of B2B search. Few people search, but those who do are close to hiring.
Company page or personal profiles
Both, with different roles. The page gives credibility and holds the official information. Personal profiles tend to get more reach and more conversation, because LinkedIn is a network of people.
| Where | Role | Example post |
|---|---|---|
| Company page | Proof and reference | Client case with permission, certification, technical launch |
| Owner or director profile | Vision and trust | Why the company changed a process, lessons from a project |
| Sales rep profile | Relationship | Common client question and how it was solved |
| Technical expert profile | Authority | Explanation of a standard, comparison between materials, common installation mistake |
The page has a feature that helps connect the two sides. According to LinkedIn’s help page on notifying employees, the admin can alert employees when they post something important. For LinkedIn, an employee is someone who listed the page in the experience section of their profile. The alert can only be sent once a day and doesn’t work for companies with zero or one associated employee.
The page admin view also lets you create Featured Pages, Product Pages and Service Pages. For a company with very different business lines, one Featured Page per line keeps a post for one audience from pushing away the other.
B2B social media: content that helps sell
A B2B content plan usually revolves around five themes.
- Client problems, explained by the people who solve them. What causes the failure, how much it costs and how to avoid it.
- Real cases, with the client’s permission and with numbers they agree to share.
- Honest comparisons between solutions, including when yours is not the best fit for a given scenario.
- Technical behind-the-scenes, such as quality testing, job site visits and the production line.
- Positioning, with the company’s opinion on changes in the industry.
The format that works best in B2B is the PDF carousel that explains a topic step by step. It can be saved and sent by message to the colleague who was in the meeting. A short video of a technician explaining a detail also works, as long as it gets straight to the point.
What not to do
Avoid generic holiday posts, Tuesday motivational quotes and “good morning” posts with no content. Also avoid the opposite, which is a product catalog with price and lead time, but no context. On LinkedIn, B2B buyers scroll past this nonstop.
What to outsource and what stays with the technical team
The most common mistake in outsourced LinkedIn management is expecting the agency to know what only your engineer knows. Technical knowledge comes from inside. What comes from outside is method, consistency and format.
| Task | Who does it |
|---|---|
| Monthly calendar | Social media proposes, sales and technical teams validate |
| Monthly interview with the technical expert or the owner | Social media leads, 30 to 40 minutes |
| Post copy based on the interview | Social media |
| Carousel, design and video cover in the brand identity | Social media |
| Editing of short videos recorded at the company | Social media |
| Technical review | Technical team |
| Publishing on personal profiles | Each person, with the copy ready |
| Replying to comments and messages | Sales |
The monthly interview is what makes the content sound like your company. Half an hour of recorded conversation yields a month of posts, and the technical expert only reviews what is already written. If you already invest in ads for the same audience, you can align the content plan with the terms that bring in leads, as we explain in B2B Google Ads.
What to measure when the sale takes months
Likes don’t close contracts, and contracts take too long to serve as a month-to-month gauge. The solution is to measure in layers.
LinkedIn provides the first layer. According to LinkedIn’s help page on page analytics, admins see analytics for content, followers, visitors, search appearances, competitors and newsletter. In B2B, the most useful data is the profile of who follows and visits the page, by industry, job title and company size. If the people showing up there aren’t the ones who buy from you, your content is talking to the wrong audience.
The other layers are in the sales team.
| Layer | What to measure | Where the data is |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | Followers and visitors from the right industry and job title | Page analytics |
| Conversation | Messages and contact requests coming from LinkedIn | Sales, logged in the CRM |
| Opportunity | Proposals where the client mentioned the content | “How did you find us” field in the CRM |
| Revenue | Contracts originating from or influenced by LinkedIn | CRM, reviewed every quarter |
The “how did you find us” field seems too simple, and that is exactly why it works. In complex sales, people remember reading the company’s posts for months, even if the first contact was by phone. Ask in every first meeting and record the answer. If your CRM already receives leads from ads, the same logic appears in offline conversions in Google Ads.
Frequently asked questions
What does a B2B social media manager do? They plan the content calendar, interview the technical team, write the posts and produce the designs and videos for the company page and for the profiles of the people who represent the company. The focus is on supporting sales, not collecting followers.
Does LinkedIn management include posting on the owner’s profile? It depends on the contract. Most commonly, the agency delivers the copy and design ready to go, and the person posts and replies to comments themselves, which keeps their own voice.
How often should you post on LinkedIn for B2B? Two or three times a week on the page and once or twice a week on each personal profile is enough to build a presence. Consistency matters more than volume.
Is Instagram useful for B2B? For some industries, such as architecture, construction and food, Instagram works as a showcase. In high-value technical sales, LinkedIn tends to concentrate the audience that decides.
How long does B2B social media take to show results? The first conversations usually appear after a few months of consistency. The effect on contracts can only be read through the CRM, in quarterly cycles.
How Ciclicko works with B2B content
In social media content creation, we produce carousels, designs and short videos in the company’s brand identity, with a profile review and, depending on the plan, copy and a posting schedule. For B2B, topics come from conversations with the technical team, and the material is delivered ready for the company page and for the profiles of the people who represent it.
